The Belgian politician of Petra De Sutter, the representative of Zelenye party, became the first transgender woman in Europe which received the Deputy Prime Minister’s position. Sutter as The Brussels Times writes about appointment.
The government was created still on October 1, but then as notes the edition, the Belgian media were not mentioned that in its structure the transwoman is registered. Petra De Sutter which now 57 years, made transgender transition when at 40.
“I am proud of the fact that in Belgium and in the majority of the countries of the European Union your gender identity does not define you as the personality and it is not represented a problem – wrote Petra De Sutter on twitter. – I hope, my appointment as the deputy prime minister can promote a discussion on this subject in the countries where the situation develops otherwise”.
De Sutter is the former deputy of the European Parliament and also the gynecologist and the manager of department of reproductive medicine of Ghent University. She never hid transgenderism and actively speaks out in defense of the rights of LGBT community.
